Preamble
The Preamble of the Constitution of India is the introductory statement that expresses the philosophy, ideals, objectives, and guiding principles of the Constitution. It serves as the soul and spirit of the Constitution because it reflects the vision of the Constitution's framers and the aspirations of the people of India. Although it is not a source of governmental powers, it acts as a guiding light for interpreting the provisions of the Constitution and understanding its purpose. The Preamble was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into force on 26 January 1950, the day India became a Republic. It begins with the memorable words, "We, the People of India," signifying that the Constitution derives its authority from the people rather than from any monarch or external power.
